Sevin dust is an old fashioned way to go. Do you have a duster? I bought a crank duster last year at Tractor supply for 10 dollars it works great. Gardeners alive also sells one called the "dustin' mizer" ( I wouldn't be surprised if dust gets phased out of garden centers in the near future. ) You dust the whole plant especially under the leaves. Sevin is known to be really effective at killing bees, so use it early in the morning or just before sunset. Just like with spray thorough coverage is critical for success. Dusts are convenient because there is no mixing and can be applied quickly and easily, Other than that sprays seem to be what everyone is using now. Although I still believe they have there use especially early in the season, when the cuke beetles first arrive on the scene.

I quite often use a mix of Sevin and Eight dust and apply to the vines so any borers that crawl on there get into it and die. I also dust the leaves as well for cucumber beetles, but I don't apply it nearly as heavy on the leaves.

Wear a respirator and eye protection. In my opinion dusting and breathing pesticide dust should be a thing of the past. There are so many pesticides that can be applied with a water droplet type application. Which brings the chance of breathing the stuff way down. Seven is a pretty old pesticide at this point. There are several more effective pesticides with less down sides. Saving a few bucks at the expense of your health seems sort of short sighted.
