My main on the 1161 has split open lengthwise about 3 inches long. Has anyone grown a large pumpkin with this happening? It split at the 10 foot mark.

yep just cover the split with a board or wrap it in gauze to keep insects out. usually not a problem ---at all.

Also yes. I wrap with duct tape and bury it.

Is it split on the top or the bottom?? Had 2 to split on the bottom after a large rain last year. Both had close to 100 ponders on them. They stopped growing and eventually rotted.

3 inches is that all thats not a split just a scratch my 1194 northrup split 8 inches right through and still grew my 1095 my first pumpkin ive ever grown i had a couple of other splits futher on main vine as well i just ignored them apart from the massive split in my stump i had to dig down 10 inches under ground and drill holes in the stump to drain the water out
