This might be a dumb topic but I can't think of any pumpkin myths right off. Maybe though it will get someone thinking. It would be cool to be featured on that show somehow and be linked to science.....pete

Almost every single person who see's my pumpkins asks the same question. So, did you use milk to get em' that big?

Yes the milk issue....and the extension of it..."do you(or can you) inject it with milk?" I don't know the answer to the injection part(I just say no).....that would be interesting.

From what I understand milk can cause some serious fungi problems but the calcium thing is interesting. Wondering if anyone has actually ever successfully injected milk? Would be kinda cool to actually try. I just don't have the space to use a plant as a guinea pig. Has anyone on here tried it?

The milk myth is one of the largest fake myths out there. Milk contains fats, which are one of the worst things you can give to a pumpkin.

It would be interesting to confirm if the plant will "injest liquids" and transform them to the fruit. Maybe using a dye....I see it has been suggested to Mythbusters twice and I replied to help it get noticed. You have to sign up there to leave comments.

Exploding giant Pumpkins! Anyone who has seen mythbusters knows they can't pass up anything to do with explosions. and of course at the conclusion of the show they will take a block of C4 and blow one up good and proper!

10% milk (9parts water 1 part milk) can be used as a fungicide. I use powdered nonfat milk (and a 1/4 strength copper sulfate) as a preventative.

I heard a seed from a pumpkin that somebody blew up with a stick of dynamite shot out so fast it hit a kid between the eyes and killed him. But then the giant mutant terrantulas came out and snatched the body, so it couldn't be proven.

What about injecting lead without nobody finding out. This may hurt my career, but it used to be a big myth which lead to pinhole DQ at the weighoffs. Then they can blow it to pieces.

I was told someone filled their pumpkin with mercury before. I don't know who would want to mess around with mercury though.
