Ok so after all the storms passed last night, i went and checked up on plants, and on my wallace plant, there is a split about fingure lenth long on the main vine near the stump. What can i do to close it up? Or will it heal on its own? I think what happen was, the wind was blowing hard enough in different directions and and twisted the vine. I just hope im not down a plant cause i only planted 2. There is no wilting on the leaves or anything like thay. Just covered in mud. Its been a rough start for me this yr. Cant catch a break!

First apply a small amount of bleach to clean the affected area. Get some sulfur powder and mix with water and make a thick paste. Use a paint brush and brush it on the vine with a thick concistency. Put a fan on it to allow it to dry faster. Cover the area so the area is kept dry. By doing this it will allow for any fungus to inhibit the plant and the sulfer will dry the area so it can scab over. I have the same issue with my 991 plant. Remember to keep the stumps dry and protected. If you have leaves around the split that add weight or preasure to the split. Prune them this will also allow more air to flow around the stump. Good luck and let us know how it goes. It should scab over in a few days.

i usually sprinkle captan on it....and then cover it with a plastic bottle with the ends cut off so it can stay dry and get air...the vine will scab up

I use Captan also as a dry powder without water. The moisture from the plant will be all you need. It will heal up nicely if you keep it dry.

Ryan, you can get it from amazon if you can't find it locally.
