Has anyone ever grown with one deformed lobe. I went out to pollinate this morning, and 1 of the 4 lobes was bent forward. I have never seen this. It's at a good distance 16-17' and good positioning relative to the stem. Thanks

I had the same thing happen this morning on my 1610. I know Mr. Sperry had a abnormal lobe on his 1725 last year and it split on him. He was thinking it may have been the cause. I was going to wait for the next one down the main in 3-4 days and see what it looks like. I am curious to what others have to say as well...

Hey Luke, that one does not look that bad :)
I'm with you, I like the nice long stem and the football shape of that one...could be the one!!
I've heard of many great kins being grown with no issues from deformed lobes...hopefully those growers will chime in.
Glad things are progressing in the patch for you!!

Pumpkins over 1500 have been grown with goofy lobes or seeds in the blossom.

Looks the same as yours. The lobe was pushed foward by a very deformed 5th 'tumor" lobe. The deformed lobe had seeds on it too, but I still pollinated it and it grew my 222.

Just pollinated one this morning with a deformed lobe. Yes, this may be an issue later. I'll pollinate another flower farther down the main next week and if it has a better looking blossom I'll cull this one. One thing you may want to try is mark the deformed side with a marker and try to get the fruit to lay down on the faulty side as it gets bigger. Deformed lobes on the bottom side are less of an issue.

Luke, can you see seeds in the deformed lobe, like some have suggested? If so...how many fish you caught lately? Wish I had a good answer for ya, but...then, again...Catch em Big!!! Peace, Wayne
