2-3 holes in each leaf but nothing season ending. Man it is scary to hear hail hitting the roof. Hope that is the last of it this year.

This Ohio weather this year has sucked quite a bit! Been through 3 diff storms complete with hail and wind. Oh and flooding in the garden. With all the shit that has happened this spring I can't believe I have a garden period.

I went to pick my daughter up from work today.Went 3 blocks away and it started to hail...marble size.Arrived at her place of work about a mile from my house and it was coming down so hard we couldn't even hear each other talk...very,very loud.I thought for sure it had killed the garden.Lasted only 10 minutes and when we got back home it looked like it went right around the garden...unbelievable and unreal!!Thank you lord for looking out for us...we were extremely lucky and blessed today.

We had baseball size hail last year on 7/17 and it ruined our town and I thought my pumpkins were done. I had some damaged mains and lost some mains after the pumpkin and ALL my leaves. I had to spend a lot of time growing new leaves which hurt the overall pumpkin growth but still ended up with a 1226. These plants can take a severe beating and still come back as they seem to kick new growth in high gear when you get bad damage. Don't give up becauase of hail damage, you will be suprised how they bounce back. It took a lot of Captan to heal some of the wounds but they recovered nicely.

A short but intencsive Hail with high winds hit my patch today. It chopped all leaves and vines are also damaged. I knew these plants can come back again, but the question is what should I do with the pollinations ( between 0.5 and 9 days old ) ? Try to keep them or cull them and wait until the new canopy is able to push them ?

MNFisher,
I'm curious to know where you are in central MN. I'm in central MN as well. You can email me at [email protected] if you'd like.
I had quite a bit of hail damage last year as well. My pumpkins didn't end up doing so well....which I attribute to the hail damage.
We had hail this year towards the end of May. Thankfully the pumpkins were covered by hoop houses. It did make a few holes through the 4 mil plastic, but no significant damage to the plants. Most of my tomatoes were ruined, but it was early enough to replant.
