tap roots. I have 2 1544 revier plants growing very healthy at about 7 foot main vines, I buried main vine a week ago and I'm still not getting tap roots rooting or growing yet. I've grown for 10 years and this is a first for me with a plant this big. Huge leaves, very aggressive, except no taps yet. Cause for concern or maybe some plants are very slow to develope? Interesting thing is I have this on both of the 1544's, maybe it's genetics. What's everyone's experience with slow taps developing? thanks, Jim

Jim, if leafs (plants) are that healthy in Paradise, I would not worry too much...NO massive N ferts at this point...just keep feeding em a lil everyday...and look for pollination opportunities!!! ?, if vines are buried...how do you know they are not developing tap roots? Peace, Wayne

I assume tap roots are a product of necessity??? If a plant needs more from the soil say moist nurishment than it is able to deliver, it grows more roots!!! WOW!!! Let's say it has been a very moist spring (plant gets plenty of goodies), then say it turns off a dry spell??? Need more goodies, so it wakes up the feeding program, and sends out extra nutrition getters! WOW!!! Nature is awesome! Just be ready when they shoot out, so it can delivered with little slow down! Amazing plants! BSD, David

wayne, I got curious and gently dug around a couple taps on the main lol, well, nothing coming out as of yet. I only bury the bottom tap, not the whole vine, I can get vine rot in my climate. Plant looks awesome, much just be taking it's time!
