My vine is going 8 o'clock instead of 12 o'clock. How do I train this to go in the right direction by not forcing too much? How often should I try and move the vine?? thanks

JDFan

Move it a little each day for a few days during the heat of the afternoon (don't force it or move it in the cooler nights\morning - as the vines are less flexible then and tend to snap)- bamboo stakes can help hold the movement in place as you go if needed.

i take it it is up in the air?

Look for a kickstand leaf....i had one that was pushing my vine to 4 o'clock instead of 12 o'clock.

i fixed mine

If you cant get it totally moved a curve in the vine, wont hurt you.I have my 239 melon growing 180 degrees, due south, then back north again,Dont mean Squat in the long run!

One of my plants went 180° in the wrong direction this year. First time I've had that happen. Just be patient, as the vine grows longer its easier to direct it in the right direction. The main was about 4 feet long by the time I got it turned all the way around. As JD said above, only move the vine during the heat of the day and don't try to bend it too much too quickly.

Thanks for all your input guys!! The reason why I need to move it, I planted right up next to a shed:) I will get it moved slowly.

If you have to cut a secondary off to turn,go for it!!
