I grew the 1725 last year and lost every pumpkin that I pollinated on the vine. The first split at baseball size, an animal broke off the second, the third female was not fully developed and the pumpkin split at softball size. The plant was healthy and looked good. I did however pollinate a number of other vines with the males from the 1725.

Mine (this year) seemed to be a little droopy throughout the first 5-6 leaves. Might have had some transplant shock, was a little loose when going in. Might have been to dry with heating coils and house. Seems to have repsonded well to all the rain lately. Recent post at 12ft or so in my dairy, and first female, big leaves.

Not the most vigorous plant i ever had, guess it was 'saving herself' for the fruit. I think I messed it up later on in the season trying to alleviate vine stress but still a personal best. Leaves did seem a little sensitive to sun/heat, and had issues with a brittle main vine but the fruit itself was a trooper, never stoped.

Great plant, Mine started as a worry when I filed the seed and a piece near the tip fell off....I was very concerned but decided to try to germinate it while I waited for our good friend John Young to generously send a replacement. It germinated and although one cot was deformed due to the missing piece, it came up strong. At first the plant was a little slower than the other plants, once it took off; it proved to be a really strong plant. I had one small issue of a double secondary, no problems beyond that. Females are normal, every other leaf node so far, leaves are perfect, low to the ground, not huge and tall (but in my opinion that is caused by the grower fertilizing too much and not spacing the vines properly. The first female appears to be a real nice football shape, but not too pronounced. Decent size stem in length. It has taken 95 degrees with stride, it didn't look like a wet noodle, it flagged like the other plants and as soon as I turned sprinklers on for 3 mins per hr, it was absolutely fine. I would easily grow it again.

Stupidly heavy fruit. Mine went close to 38% heavy. I had to retake the measurements twice. Granted, it was a late set and a small fruit, but it was one of those that gets you to wondering, "what if I had been able to set this thing on June 20th...?"

PS - just in case there is any misinterpretation out there, I do not mean "stupidly" in a negative fashion here, I mean it like, "crazy, insanely" heavy.
Don't want to pull a post-NBA finals type move here and have a quote to my fellow unimportant people be misunderstood.

Grew it in 2010 ( Thanks again Christy and Nick ) removed the 1st female at 6 feet on the main and waited what seemed like weeks or months for the next female on the main so while I was waiting I set 2 fruit on side vines the first one on the right side and the second on the left side . By the time the SECOND female arrived on the main at 21 feet, the right side fruit measured 350 pounds and was trucking and the left side fruit est. at 200 lbs . About 10 days after fruit set on the main at 21 feet ( by now it's late July ) I decided to release it and go with the 2 side vine fruit because of the other plants I had growing nearby ..... 1385.5 Jutras , 1194 Northrup , 1161 Rodonis , 1622 Young & 985 Warner which all ( except for the 1622 lost main vine early ) had main vine fruit growing and all doing good . Then after a thunderstorm / wind shear event that took down 50 % of the leaves the pumpkin on the right side developed a small split in the blossom at 550 lbs. est. Decided to weigh it in tact and it went 600 pounds . The last remaining fruit (which was tractor tire shape) on the left side of the plant grew on a somewhat tiny side vine and with a 50 % loss of leaves on the plant the pumpkin was picked and brought to Topsfield Fair in Mass. on Oct 1st and weighed 1056 pounds .
Would I grow it again ? ABSOLUTELY !!!

Awesome plant, very aggressive. Grew it last year, pollinated 1rst female at 9 ft., couldn't get another to take after that. was 700 lbs. + on Aug. 1rst. Developed a vine disease, had to cut 80% of plant before the stem on Aug. 6th, cut of rest of vine Sept 3rd. Put pumpkin in cooler at local supermarket. Weighed in Altoona at PGPGA weigh-off. 928lbs., slightly heavy to chart. It was the big one that got away! I selfed it and am growing it this year. Tried to get one at auction this year but it too much money for me!
