Last year one of my plants started becomeing extreamly brittle on the ends and started clustering almost on the ends. The main snapped like three time. This year one of my plants seems to be doing the same thing. What is this a sign of. To much water. To much nitrogen or is it something in my soil or lack of. Thanks, kinda puzzled.

I've been told that too much N can cause brittle plants. Also, some plants are just brittle.

I've had two plants do this over my years of growing: the 1367 Rose and the 898 Knauss. It's something that simply happens and there's nothing to be done about it. Vines seem to break off by themselves as they grow upward and you can forget about training them.

I think splits and snapping vines are almost expected now. These plants just grow too fast for them to stay together.
