What does it take to win the Master Gardener Award and who has won it in the past? Are there certain criteria that must be fulfilled to win and if someone votes on who the winner is, who is that someone? Just curious. Marv

You must register an entry in 5(or 6)out of six categories. Field Pumpkin, Long Gourd, Pumpkin, Squash, Tomato, and Watermellon. You are then awarded points based upon the total number of qualifiers for Master Gardener. Lets say 65 people qualify for MG. If you grew the heaviest tomato, you would be awarded 65 points, even if there were only 52 people who registered a tomato. It is like that for each category. It is to your advantage to register in every category even though you are only required to register in 5 out of 6. Who ever winds up with the most points wins. In the event of a tie, World Records or closest to a World record for an entry, are taken into consideration.

Marv, thinkin that Master Gardener Awards are a pre-set, set of critirea on 5(?) different catagories. Not a voting type of thing. Try asking this question on GPC board, and hopefully a link to the full criteria will be posted. Good question, as lots of folks are branching out in to multiple giants...!!! Peace, Wayne
