Last night we had some bad winds come through which leveled all the main leaves in a 7 foot span down the main vine. The leaves are still attached, but the plant looks like it was partially run over with a dump truck.
Should I cut those leaves off leaving a big hole over the main vine? Will new leaves grow back at those nodes or can I only backfill with terts from here? Thanks

I have used small wooden skewers and zip ties to upright unbroken leaves. If they're not broken, I always try to save them.

Luke, prop them up with bamboo sticks, as soon as the sun comes out, they will be fine. Do Not Prune until you see what happens after the sun hits the plant. The best advice that I can you is dont do anything in haste, you will be surprised.

Thanks for the advice everybody. I posted a pic in the diary of my zip tie and bamboo stick rig.
A couple were completely torn so I removed. They were some of my biggest leaves. Will the plant try to regrow at those nodes?

I can only tell you what I did. I would use bamboo sticks around the entire plant then bury all vines and then give it some nitrogen in moderation. In a few days the plant will respond. I had to prune some leaves due to the weight they where putting on the vine. We got nailed here.

I agree, don't cut them off. If they are green they are doing something for the plant. BUT, watch them VERY closely at the base. Last year I had some broken over with wind, and then rain got into a split in the stalk and rotted my main to the point I had to cut it off from the stump before I saw it. Lost about half of my plant.
