We had some big time wind the other day that ripped through the patch that almost doomed the season. Last night we get nailed again with more wind. Forecasters say that the wind wasn't tornado strength but as far as pumpkin growing its just damaging to the plants. Then after all that comes the rain blasts through and hits us with the thunder and lightning......lol ugh. Crazy New England area....Anyone else get whacked with this wind....lol

Almost record high yesterday, our record was 92, we hit 91, and hazy hot humid today but severe storms coming thru this afternoon will drop the temps back into the lower 70's for the weeekend. Somewhere in between would be good. 102F yuck! 91 yesterday was hot enough.

I had a really bad thunder storm here at about 2 am and it tore through my patch! Took some of the silt fence down and just about ripped the 1596 Wallace out of the ground . I think it is pretty much done, 2nd time in one week that the winds did damage .I also have trees down in my 2nd field so I guess I'm lucky there wasn't more damage to patch.

From May 14th to the 23rd it rained 9 out of 10 days here. Immediately followed by 16 days without a drop, including two heat waves. The extremes seem to be getting extremer.

We had strong winds last night. Tornado warning with a funnel sighted 2 miles away. I haven't taken a close look but the pumpkins seemed to survive OK.

We just got hit with a real bad storm, 44 mph gusts recorded, heavy rain and goflball size hail (the hail missed us), the wind took a few sections of silt fence, stakes and all, and moved them as far as they would move. The melon plants were literally tossed in the opposite direction. The Pumpkin Plants made out fairly well....dodged this bullet.

We got nailed twice in one day. Plants took a bad beating, but I think they will survive. It will set us back at least a week though. We lost many leaves. Good luck.
