I want to do a better job this year of controlling weeds (as we all do) but i refuse to pull all thousands of them by hand.
Would Weed-B-Gon be ok to spray ahead of the vines like numerous growers do with roundup here?

Weed-B-Gon has 2,4-D in it. Don't touch.

Glyphosate (roundup) works Ok as long as you don't get it on the plants. Don't use any formulation that has residual control.

garden hoe works. then sprinkle some Preen in your garden area. Its pretty safe and does the job for me.

Jeremy, Just pick up a stir-up hoe (open ended hoe) This hoe is not like your conventional hoe it has a loop at the end, you run it about a inch or so into the soil and it just chops the weeds right down very quickly.
My patch is about 2,000 sq ft and I can knock it out in about 45 min on a cool day. I usually only have to hoe about once a week. Or I break it up and do a 3rd of the patch 3 days a week. No chemicals needed, just good old fashion work.

I use a stirrup hoe and it does a great job! It's easy and safe and it aerates the top of the soil a little. 10 minutes everytime out in the patch and you will never see weeds.

round-up can be sprayed right on the vine under the leaves......but do not get any on any leaves.....if you do.....remove that leaf....and stay away from the vine tips

Ive just started to use some round up on the patch. It does a good job of killing the weeds. I use it just to keep the weeds in check I also believe that nothing is better then good old fassion weeding with a rake or wolf garden hoe.

What ever you do ! Do not use anything with 2-4-D in it ! Yes the Glyphosate salt is the one to use , Best deal is from wallmart they have one thats 40% for like 16$ , Like otheres have said use hoe close to plant ! but be carfull one slip & damage! I like to use hands close to stump & vines !
