Is this how a ribbon vine starts? I havent seen a lot of pumpkin vines but I have seen A LOT of pics and Ive never seen anything like this before.

Tammy, I have seen only one double/twin/ribbon vine!!! and have never seen what you showed in the pic!!! Not the leaf structure, but the vine collapsing thing!!! Hopefully someone will come up w/ answers! Peace, Wayne

this plant has been different from the beginning. If you look close you can see the seed leaves look more like one leaf that ripped as it grew. The new leaves are not growing opposite of each other like my other plants. It'll be interesting to see what it does next.

I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as it's just a leaf stem. I had one do it this year on the 1st true leaf. The plant is doing fine now at about 3ft long and no other abnormal stems.

If you have other options, I wouldn't go with this one. I had one like it last year, and pulled it. It's kind of like a double vine, except the half that would normally be used to produce a vine made a massive leaf instead.

You might get a normal vine out of it eventually, but oddities like this have a way of slowing the plant down for a while.

Im gonna let it go for a few more days and see what it does. I have a back up plant right beside it that I'll focus my growing attention on :)
