Anyone thinking about starting their backups?
Sound off with what you are gonna use.
Good Luck to all this season.

Backups, with this weather I haven't started any seeds yet. looks like rain past the first week of May and no end in sight.

I'm with Quinn, I haven't started any seeds yet. The weather has been so poor here it hasn't made sense to start seeds. It snowed twice last week. This week is going to be warmer but the rain is forecasted to continue. It's looking alot like 2009 for me, which is the worst year I've ever seen.

I really don't believe in backups because they always cause unneeded stress. If the seeds I want germinates I put them into pots & put them out. If you put 2 into the same mound you can be swayed to go with the backup you put in as well just because it's growing faster from the start & end up taking out the one you planned for that might be the better in the long run.

I'm planning on leaving my backups in the pots for now until I know my main plants are doing well. Probably wont need the backups but I have them just in case...

I use my own seeds as backups. I can't imagine why someone would use a good seed as a backup.

PPP , the 1161 was not intended to be a back up, but do to the bad seed split and the patch to wet it may not end up in the best spots in the patch. I'm planing on sibbing my two 1161's. so i started the bad split seed first in case it took longer to germ ( i did not soak the seed, thought it might rot ) then bad weather just hurt me more.. Bill
