when I opened the seed envelope of the 1610 Lieber last night to get a look, the tip of the seed was broken !@#$%^&*#$# about an 1/8 of a inch up and it looks like there is some damage to the em brio but not sure because it's not snapped completely off. Has anybody every had success germinating a seed with tip damage? And does anybody have any suggestions besides planing for backup? I really wanted to grow this one this year so I hope it germinates with a normal tap root.

theres only one way to find out mean gene ---- try it. because the tip is broken i would refrain from more than a 1/2 hr pre-soak. keep seed starter moist but not to wet.heat high between 85-90

I never tried with that seed, but I suppose it's possible. It won't hurt to try.

My 1548 Marsh had 1/4 broken tip/brittle, could see into the embryo, germinated just fine, leaves just had a little wrinkal on the ends.

My 1536 Marsh was the same way. It was a little harder to get the shell off and the cot leaves didn't look good. Once the first true leaf showed up everything was fine, the young plant looks good to me.
