Has anyone else received an email from a "Kathy Lagoli"? I have recieved two emails from a person with the subject of : "message board - bigpumpkins.com" from two different email addresses. I had never heard of this person so I did a little researching. It appears this is the work of a hacker, from what I've found elsewhere on the net, that has done this to other forums. Apparently this person is harvesting email addresses from this site and I wanted to warn others here to watch out for it. It's of a bit different approach from what I usually see and I could see how some might fall for it.

I see this has hit alot of forums and blogs today. First, the emails usually have a subject about something you've recently posted to a blog or forum. Then, if you don't reply in a few hours you get a follow up email saying she hasn't heard back from you and asks if you're still in business. Another day, another attempted internet scam!

Kevin,
I have, in the past two weeks, even received e-mails from my DAUGHTER, with nothing in the subject line and only a link provided in the body. I never opened any of them, as she says she has not sent me any e-mails. Very crafty bunch these hackers.

Using email address as your location is bound to get you on a lot of junk mail lists unfortunately. Also I think Yahoo doesn't have as good of a spam filter. Years ago I switched from Yahoo to Gmail and I almost never get spam mail on Gmail.

Wayne, if you get it just delete it.
EndlessTrail, you're right it isn't a very good idea. It isn't a good idea to put your email addy anywhere on the forum but it's difficult to comunicate without listing your email somewhere so I leave it there. I get very little junk mail in my inbox with Yahoo, most of it gets kicked to the spam folder. It's the ones that appear to come from an individual that sometime get through.

To all whom read this. Beware......I replied before searching and then got thinking about it. Who is this person whom asked if I was still in business? Subject line was Xbids which is also a scam website, although the website is up, it is not functioning. (I thought Xbids was responding to my inquiry). They offered an online auction in December of 2010 and January 2011, since then many people show up on google search as being scammed. When I did not receive my purchases I began to investigate. I called my bank after searching for more info via internet. Yes, more have been scammed! But, most banks will return your money because you have not received your merchandise. But, you need to report this to US Attorney Generals office in order to help catch these guys.

wisemen...so putting in the words instead of the symbols, stops the hacking, cause we know and the system doesn't know? I hate to ask this question (not ?)...how long b/4 the hackers figure this one out too!!! LOL PA, will do...just delete, that is!!! and, I applaude yer braveness!!! , and agree that we sometimes have to take chances to help this insanity GROW!!! Peace, Wayne
