my kids and I want to grow some big pumpkins this year. is it too late to start? any thoughts? tips? what seed should I buy? thanks in advance.....Andy

No it is not too late, start reading everything you can on this site, and ask for some seeds; these people are very generous. Good luck!

Read over some grower diaries from 2010 or other years. That way you can see what to do from prep to finish.

Andy, inexpensive piece to get is...go to sngpg.com, find Pap Tips 2 ... only $10 and very informative lil booklet!!! Another inexpensive way to go (seed wise) is post on seed exchange board you want some seeds!!! A Lil advice up front...prbly don't need to buy top shelf seeds for yer first year!! Plenty o incredible seeds out there, for price of bubbleope!! Hope this helps!! Peace, Wayne PS...or? email to [email protected] & I can send ya some seeds!!!!!!!! I will reinterate green gene's comment, join a local club, experienced growers are a wealth of knowledge, if you can visit their patch and vice versa it is a great thing!
