I was asked an interesting question today that had never even occurred to me before. Planting by the signs. Does anyone do that? I remember hearing my grandfather talk about it when I was a kid.

I have always used the Farmer's Almanac for both best planting dates and best dates to kill weeds. As far as I'm concerned, it works.

Tammy, if full moon is within 24 hrs (before or after) your planned planting date, then I would consider it a MAJOR factor!!! LOL, Just kiddin, I would put more faith into a soil temp thermometer (sp?) !! and how wet yer soil is!!! And is it 40 or 70 outside today?? Don't ever trust the moon!!! I like Cheese!!! LOL
PS...cntryboy grows em Big, and I don't?!?! Hope this helps? LOL Peace, Wayne
PS...Mark, need to change yer Yield sign, into a Stop!!!

The stars & moon have an effect on everything!Dont know that I would wait to plant around that full moon, lessin it happens to fit my schedule than Im all for it.The jails are full of people on full moons,Ive caught my biggest fish within 3 days of the full moon.Maybe you should do a study on past 10 WR & the stars ck start dates & transplanting & harvest time.Maybe thats the ticket Tammy.Seriously let me know what you find out.

There was quite a bit of discussion about this at one point, mainly how it didn't work.

the only sign we look for before setting out plants is ----WEATHER-WEATHER-WEATHER.
if extremely cold weather is predicted for a few days? we will hold in the one gallon plastic pots for that extra couple days.
if great weather is predicted? likewise we also may set them out a couple days earlier as well.

I was told that I needed to plant by the signs once. About a minute later he assured me I needed to feed them milk.
