So who all is growing the 1468 and what are your plans for crosses.
I hear the Biz is crossing it with his 1019. Is that right Biz
I think I'd like to cross it with an 1810 Stevens!!!!!!!!

I already have all my plants in the patch, including the 1468 Stevens. I am planning on crossing it with.. 1596 Wallace, 1622 Young, 1658 Young, 1662.5 Stelts, and the 1725 Harp. That is the plan as of now.. it may change some.

If you know that it's going to be proven out why not plant it this year? Are you saying that if no one proves it out you won't plant it next year?

I only have so many spots and some older seeds that need to get planted because another year may mean no germination.
Also it nice to see what it produces, color, % heavy, shape etc so you can plan a cross.
This year I will plant 2 proven seeds for a particular cross, and that is the 801.5 Stelts and I will cross it with the 904 Stelts. And because they are both proven I get a better idea of the outcome

Unfortunately if you don't already have a 1468 it will be nearly impossible to obtain in the future.

I plan on sibbing my 1810's, if one of the 1810's dont germinate Ill just use my back up 1810 to use a sibb plant, but if only 1 out of the 4 only pop up Ill be left with just selfing it......... Or ill wait untill next year untill it gets proven and go with Eddy's idea and just hold off a year before planting them all..........as far as the 1468 goes, Ill just use it this year as a pollinating plant only this year and then maybe use my other 5 1468's seeds next year.

brooks, if you need any more 1810's call me, i just dont want to plant them, if it grows a huge pumpkin, i have no where to put it! also the problem of moving it ect......, not worth the effort.

Side thought for those who have a 1468 and a 904 Stelts... a 1468 x 904 would be a good orange producer...the 904 as a male pollinator seems to throw nice orange(and big)...1663, 1422 Bogie, etc, etc. Not a red/orange.
I'm probably growing the 1495 Stelts (1161 x 904):-) due to this thought...big and orange.
