I just read Brownie's posting of 3-9-11
no one explained to him how to set up an offical weigh off site. I would all so be interested in knowing the details, and how and where to get this information and if there is any help to be had in set one up?

it is alot of work and takes alot of funds...we are on our 3rd of running a wiegh-off here.......there is always politics invovled which creates a few hurdles.......sponcers of a weigh-off and location are the key, along with many other factors, (date, permits, vendors, activities, bands.....etc).......advertizing for the first few years is very costly.

Yes it is a lot of work from what I have read, and I don't think we are at that point to justify it all, we need a few more seasons growing to get the pumpkins up to size, and have more communication, something I am trying to work on, to get growers to talk, and agree on things.

matt-man - one of the first sponsors you should get is your local newspaper! Not only are they gonna run pumpkin stories anyways but as a sponsor will give you free advertising. Second should be a local TV station.

After you've got the advertisers as sponsors....the rest will come flowing to you....that was our experience anyways.

That is what we did here and the local paper gave us $3500 worth of free advertising.
