The production of our garden has declined over the past 15 years since my family moved into our house.
We grow more than pumpkins including potatoes, corn, tomatoes, ect.
Besides maybe a summer cover crop after the winter rye I planted and tilling in the old leaves and green weeds growing in the winter is there anything else I should do this winter to improve the soil in half of our garden?
We will still plant the other half.
Thank you

I should clarify the old leaves are oak tree leaves raked from the lawn.
We have several big oak trees and sometimes I rake up the leaves and pile them in the garden.
Besides that and some chemical fertilizer thats about all I do for soil improvement.
I'd use more natural stuff but my dogs like to roll in it.

Get a soil test. If your pH is getting too low, that can lead to a big decline in productivity. The oak leaves are fine, except that they might hurt your low pH even more. A little lime, and you could be back in business... but don't do that until you get the soil test.

I got a soil test done last year.
I'll have to go find it.
