I'm sure the answer to this is super simple....nonetheless, I'd appreciate a description of growing back to back. I'm going to grow for the first time this year and am trying to decide how to best use my garden space.

Place place side by side any where from 4 feet to 10 feet apart back to back, some believe this makes plant more aggressive, competing for goodies in soil.Trees will do this if planted close,1 will win!!

i grow 2 plants back to back and 1 plant not back to back and have found no difference in the plants growth or size of pumpkins. actually the 2 best plants last year were back to back and 4' apart is fine. the advantage of growing back to back is the ability to use one hoop house for 2 plants in the spring.

Even with two smaller hoops the ability to water both starting plants from one spot helps also the watering system will start from the same spot...unfotunately once they start running they're in opposite directions..but that's the fun of it...
