WiZ haZ new planZ this year to reVamp me JaredZ patch.....
already reset them to grow....North to South....putting the stumpZ in a whole new place.

I will be installing a new sprinkler system that will flat ....Kick Azz.....on my major four.....

A fuel injected system to boot, with an overhead misting system

Would be cool to put up a hail structure aZ well since I already have the netting for two patches....

Ideas on previous hail structures iZ what I am asking for ...

What have you used?..... We have lots of wind to deal with....so Im concerned about that....

Would be nice to put up a structure that would keep the modest hail out....knowing that if it really wantZ to come down...not much I can do to prevent it.....

If you have pics...or ideas....PlZ share them here...and post it please.....

Thanks..GrowZEM BIG

I was thinking sort of the same thing. We have had hail in the past here in the Falls.I was thinking of putting up a large hoop green house.Put plastic on it to start the plant in,and then switch the plastic over to that 30% shade cloth. It's windy up here also, but I think being tied to the hoop house will keep the cloth from blowing a way.Just have to make sure the hoop house is secured to the ground. Also can mount misters and sprinklers in side.

Wiz, I actually just got off the phone with someone at USGR
US Global Resources, they carry two products E12 and E13 for hail. I havnt gotten the responce yet for specs and pricing, they are emailing it to me. I think it is available in 17ft and 36ft wide sizes. The E13 has 10% shade factor, its a netting, so should work good in wind. I had used agribond19 last year and it got destroyed and was impossible to install with slightest of breeze. Ive got a few requests out to some others. There was a post a few weeks back, but all the companies were in China or New Zealand.. didn't get any responce. u can see my structure on last years diaries.

I liked Matt and Lisa's setup in their diary last year.

http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=144466
(but I would have
to have taller uprights if I did it to keep from knocking myself out on a pole). In chat one evening, Lisa said she could cover the patch by herself in around 10 minutes.

Check out Pumpkin Lisa's diary. They had a nifty setup that worked for shade and hail.

4 poles and chicken wire. I use chicken wire to protect my windows while storm chasing. But key is, you have to may have to have double layer of wire. I like it, its simple and easy to rig.

Wiz - call me and I can get you hooked up with the outfit that Scherber and I got hail netting from. Good quality stuff that is Colorado hail tested and inexpensive.

I have a product called Solexx from Salem Oregon that works great for all knids of applications. I bought enough to cover a Greenhouse but one can buy small sections too. Check it out, stuff is strong!

Material wiZe as far has hail cloth I have....I am interested in the frame used to hold such a structure up as a 25 X 30 frame to withstand high winds.......

Any superstructures out there...I like the hut type tubing, was thinking of making a light weight version from aluminum conduit....has to be mobile and be able to take it apart for tilling.....

A superWiZanator is what Im going after....with built in misting system with the ability to fertigate as well...thatZ what Im designing....just wait and see....lol

BiZ...were gonna kick IceMelt Dude and BoZomatic buttZ..with our own Colorado made seedZ.....

Best ever was Brian Reid's, described in his 2007 diary:

Check out pics in early July and late August.

The hail netting that I got was from an outfit in Italy. It was about $100 with shipping included to cover my 900sq foot patch. The following is the contact information:

Antonio Chiafullo
RETILPLAST srl
Tel. +39.0828.45359
Fax. +39.0828.48127
Skype: retilplast

I use the 5/4 Kristal hail netting with a 14% shade factor. It is very sturdy and should last for years. The netting did me well in one of our big Colorado hail storms in June this last season (www.denverpumpkins.com/2010/06/big-hail-in-denver-again.html). I had put up the netting about 4 days before. Plant only got hit on the side where the hail was coming under the netting on an angle. Held very strong everywhere else.
