well we will be leaving for duke hospital at 4 a.m.monday morning. t.j.'s surgery will begin at 6 a.m..this will be an all day(about 9 hrs.) surgery to put longer rods beside his spine to correct the scoliosis caused by his cancer surgery at only 5 weeks old. he is now seven and an amazing child who's spirit is simply astounding.please include him in your prayers for a few days. i will try and post news as soon as i can about his situation.hope we can get this over and get the green light from his doc so he can help me in the patch this year. t.j. will be growing the 1329.5 menting as his first venture into this hobby, as well as helping look after my plants.so wish him well , i know that joe wants him to do well with his seed , and all your prayers and well wishes will certainly help us obtain our goal. thanks and best wishes to everyone.gary lovitt

I know the thoughts you are experencing right now as at age 10 my daughter had a 63degree curve in her spine. She went in to Childrens hospital where they put titainium rods from T3 to T7 i believe and reduceded the curve in her spine to AMAZINGLY just under 20% curve. She also had the spine fused,and had srews and some hooks put in as well. I firmly believe that the prayers and well wishings from everyone here on BP aswell as family and friends really helped us and Breana get through it. I will add you and TJ to my prayer group. Breana was pretty much back to normal in about 8-10 Weeks. So TJ I would think could bounce back real well. Again I know what thought run through our minds with these decisions that we make for our kids but rest assured God is watching over him.

hello everyone, our family would like to say thanks for the well wishes and prayers that have been posted, it really does help.first let me say , t.j. says hello , and he wants everyone to know he is ok. we are in pediatric icu right now but will probably be moved to the general pediatric floor later today.the surgery went great , actually only took 7.5 hrs. instead of 9 hrs. like they thought.they did get the rods put in and his back is much straighter now. hopefully if all goes well we can bring him home fri. or sat. he says he wants to watch the daytona 500 from his home not a hospital room.just wanted to let you folks know how he was doing.i will continue to post his progress when i can, thanks again for the prayers.

Gary, I'm 64, have scoliosis and 2 ruptured discs. My sympathies, prayers and best wishes to TJ.

Because I don't have urgent symptoms, I can't have surgery, but still have pain.

Glad to hear things are going well to date.

t.j. had somewhat of a rough night, hard for him to get comfortable for any length of time due to pain.doc says its because with the amount of scar tissue in his back that his nerves are even more sensitive.overall , he is doing well though. thanks for the well wishes and prayers. they do help and will not be forgotten.thanks again, gary lovitt
