In good faith some refunds have been issued.

Some seeds are out, all but one lot should be out by Monday 2/7/11

For US customers we will issue refunds AFTER 2/15/11 if your seeds have not arrived by that date. Thank you.

Stay safe, warm, and have a stupendous 2011 season.

I am disappointed in a few of the folks that participated in the P and T Growers auction.

The fact that weather, HEALTH, and lack of support on her end has caused you some delay in getting your seeds, has caused so much doubt and mean-ness is really sad.

I truly hope none of you ever have to walk in her shoes. I know that Deb will do everything in her power to deliver what was promised.

Most of us wont even be germing our seeds for another 30-45 days. It was kind of her to post this message to give you a bit of explantions and look how you respond.

I know that I am a bit niave and too trusting at times, but I pray that she can endure and regain her strength to grow something soon. Head up Deb!!

I think most people would be understanding if they just knew what the situation was. Not knowing is probally the biggest reason everyone was getting upset. Waiting for some kind of response so they could send their money or just know that the lot they had bid on was confirmed. I think just a short post would have gone a long way.

I personally would rather see Deb healthy and not worry about my seeds. Hope things are getting better Deb. Joe Z.

Sue, I'm sorry you are disappointed. No one knows what's going on and that is causing the confusion and doubt. Like Joe said above, a short post explaining the problem would have taken care of most of the complaints, I think.

In response to the time issue and the bidders not being patient...that's how auctions work. You win a lot and you are responsible for getting your money into the club in a timely manner. In return, once your payment has cleared the bank and is in the club's account, you will get your seeds in a timely manner. A common courtesy from both sides.

yes , i hope that deb gets well soon, and hope all is well.
with that said , is there only 1 person in this club? I said this before, why wouldn't someone else from this club go over and just mail out the seeds for her? problem solved! it might not have been as easy as i suggested, but here we are, still waiting for our lots, yes our planting season is still a couple months away, but planning on seeds you bought in an auction that never come, you will have to scramble to find replacements for seeds that should of been mailed a long time ago. stay healthy deb, you need more friends in your club!! scott.

this is a good post for anyone whos contemplates holding a seed auction.

we all suffer when one group, club or individual holds an auction and allows problems to develope. its a black eye against all auctions.
these events need to be a group/club effort not individual.

i hope for debras sake she gets the situation straightened out. reputation in this hobby is everything.

Marley, For the past 2 years and some change I do not know one person that is in the p&t growers club.

Well, here's how I have seen it so far... its went from a 2009 seed auction last year (from seed donations to ALOT of funds raised) all for a weigh off that never ended up happening, cancelling 2 weeks prior for it to start.

Then from there the following year, (this year) having another seed auction in 2010, a 2 day auction at that, to raise even more money for the same exact weigh off that didnt happen in 2009 that was cancelled due to sickness and lack of participation, etc,,, etc,,, .

And now,, growers not getting their seeds they was promised, that they bought from this years auction, seeds that have already been paid for, mind you, that she now does NOT or never had them to sell in the first place!!,,, ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,,,,,,
ARE YOU SERIOUIS!!!!!OPEN YOUR EYES!!! COME ON PEOPLE WAKE UP!!!,,PLEASE!!!

I really kills me to see how Naive some people can be.

If someone can feel well enough to post a 46 photo diary entry, then why can't they peck out a simple CONFORMATION email. That's all I was asking for. I even enclosed a letter with my check asking for some sort of response since I sent my money in good faith. I never received anything after the auction for the 3 lots I bought. My check was stapled to the letter. The check cleared my bank 19 days ago but absolutely no response to my letter.

WHAT THE HECK???

I am feeling very disgruntled over this whole ordeal. I can live without the money and the seeds but it's the abuse of our trust that ticks me off. And what about the growers that donated seeds to this club?!?! Enough said!!

there is a big problem here and unfortunately brooks has hit the nail on the head ( so to speak )

i dont like to publicly dress down anyone but i have personally experienced some of what brooks and others have mentioned in this post.

it makes me angry to wait and wait only to realize you have been lied to. theres nothing worse than a liar.i dont care how sick you say you are.

of all the growers that over the years purchased oaf coats for kids seed promo packages only one person reserved a package and did not sent a check. then followed that up by never sending a second (confirmed)check to cover the first lost check as mentioned either? guess who?

like i said in an earlier post reputation in this hobby is everthing.once lost it is almost impossible to regain.

I dont know the history on this sounds like alot of people getting ignored here,This shouldnt be held against other clubs & auctions,A man robs a bank,Are all men now suspect in the future? As Forest said "IT happens" :(

I agree with Mark, extortion happens everywhere. One bad auction over how many years? Was bound to happen eventually. Number one mistake is to list seeds in an auction that are not IN your hands. Every seed listed for our Little League auction is in my possession, as I'm sure is the case with most auctions. I am running this auction as a individual and I guarantee it will run without a hiccup... :)

There's been more than one this year. I was the victim of one. Was told over and over that the seeds were on their way. The last was that they were mailed, but guess what they never showed up. I was already betting with a friend that that statement would be forthcoming. I have to agree with Pap's statement.

I think we need to get the GPC as a governing body invovled. The reputation of growers clubs like Pap said is vital to us as a community. Maybe an inquiry should be established. That way if there is nothing going on it can be put to rest, but if there is disciplinary action could be taken and our community will not have to keep wondering what is going on.

It really is a shame that it has come to this but Brooks and a few others on here tried to warn everyone to stay away from the P&T Auction for what appeared to be very obvious concerns and valid reasons.

Just look back at the fake State record that was posted in 2009 by this same person and the controversy that followed. Even though she was hosting an "official weighoff", she waited till Pat Benner weighed his pumpkin at a differant official weighoff site where he claimed the Oklahoma record, then she weighed her pumpkin in "her backyard", with the lifter and ropes attached.....and surprise....claimed the State Record by a mere 4.5 lbs. Many many of us asked "why not weigh it an official weighoff" and of course only got the run-around answers.

Then there was the auction last year to raise funds for the 5 State weighoff that was eventually cancelled. Not only is there all that money unaccounted for, there were a bunch of well known growers that donated seeds for that auction that were never offered up in the sale....she said they were being held for the next years auction...but of course were never offered up.

Then...after a failed and cancelled weighoff....what does she do....she has a 2 day auction (to raise funds for a weighoff) and raises a bunch more money.

Sorry folks, I could go on as there are more incidents but so many people turned a blind eye to this and just let it happen.

I feel bad for those of you who perhaps got ripped off...but if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck....well you know rest.

Grizfan, could you tell a little more about the who, when and where of how you were ripped off? This is an honest question, if people do get ripped off I think it would be best if we all knew about it so we can protect ourselves in the future.

Thanks,

We Pumpkin growers are a close nip group, probably the closest in any other hobby in the world, and if I see or hear something that is going to effect this hobby of ours in a bad way, then you can bet Im going to open my big mouth and say something. Never enough until those of US that have been wronged by the P&T growers club receive some kind of explaination and possibly an apology to US, to BP for abuse of the site, and to the pumpkin growing community as a whole.

I honestly can't see how someone could do this. Yeah I know there are dishonest people out there. I would not have expected this from a club. I won 2 lots in this auction (13 & 23) and actually received them. With all of this new to me info about P&T, I am now questioning if the seeds I received are actually the seeds I was bidding on. I hope for P&T's sake that their morals are not that low.

Yes, I am seven months new to this community, and have no idea who's who or how auctions and other trading businesses are conducted, but, there are appropriate ways to politely handle them, thanks for stepping up! That's an easy one Carl- faith. This community expects that it is a given that all BP auctions are honest endeavours for a club to raise funds for their respective weigh-offs.

Brooks B

I agree with Andy, very very rarely does this type thing happen, and most growers just dont want to believe something like this will happen, espically with 99% of the growers and clubs that we do have out there are honest and would do anything to help any growers out.

BIG SHOW, My grandmother called me Brooksie,,LOL,And so does Dave Stelts, but Im not counting him,,lol,,,

but I did try to warn alot of growers, and would get replies back on posts that I wasnt giving her a fair shake and was giving her the ''short end of the stick'', so I just stopped saying anything, I knew it would all come out soon enough, which it did. I could tell by just the growers who was at this years P&T Auction and who normally would always be bidding on seeds wasnt bidding,or alot wasnt even at the auction because they already had a good idea about what this lady was about.

Alot of growers knew and suspected, but alot of people dont want to get envolved, and thats OK, cause things like this they know will always come out sooner or later.

Let me step into it real deep before I leave for KGPG seminar, I was sarcasticly speaking of 'crap' flying between long timers who know what's going on without mentioning of names or associations. This does leave the newbies with cash to spend in a precarious situation and the GP community at large demeened! The magority of folks that got hurt were the new comers who did't know the history and so if you just want to look out for your GP buddies and not care for the newbies and rookies you'll find the cicle will shrink! The life of any organization is the regeneration of membership, and there is lots of it here, Protect them ALL!!!! BSD, David

Is this fair? I have'nt been here for a while because of military and I did'nt have a lap top, but, she actually called me asked if I wanted a seed I was looking for, sent it to me,paid for postage, envelope out of her own pocket, I thought that was nice of her. Is'nt she also the one who spent the winter growing tomato plants then selling them to growers who wanted to grow them because there was such a high demand to plant it? It sure sounds like it is to much for one person to do, I think she bit off more than she could chew. Tomatoe growing all winter, trying to start a organization, run a weigh off by her self.

I don't think its out of the question to think something shady is going on here. I myself haven't yet decided. I did receive my seeds from that auction and they were even gift wrapped so I could give them to my good friend for Christmas.

I know that I personally was totally overwhelmed after founding the MAGPG, driving membership, filling bubbles, and conducting our auction. I finally got 97% of our bubbles out yesterday. That level of pressure plus a few other unexpected variables such as illness, family matters etc. could pile up and then I could see how things could spiral out of control.

Like I said I'm not sure how to feel about this I can understand why the people who are angry feel the way they do. I just wanted to share that my experience was a good one. Jim
