A moment that when I looked into my review mirror....and saw nothing but BIG @ss pumpkin starting at me.....I love the part of parading the personel best around town and seeing the lookZ on driverZ faces when they get a good look at the monster in my pickem up truck.....ItZ a good feeling.......

WhatZ your superbowl of pumpkineering?

Kids and most people's reactions in general. But mainly going to the patch each day and working with these beasts! Coming back from a weeks vacation and seeing a pumpkin 150 pounds bigger than you left it. Finding a stem split or a hundred other problems that can happen with an AG and catching it in time to save the plant or pumpkin. There are very few people who aren't amazed by these giants whether they admit it or not. Above all for me is shooting the s&!t with other growers at the weigh-offs. The superbowl is one day,the pumpkineer superbowl is pretty much all year. How can you beat that? Then again I do tend to ramble at 2:15 in the morning!

Turning a solemn face into a bright smile! Or even better--a frowning face as you're going down the road. I'm with you Gary that it is a blast to be driving down the road with a really decent pumpkin in the back of a full size pickup bed & just seeing the reactions of people on the road! My second favorite would be the look on joe's face and yours when I pulled in at Nick's weighoff last October with my surprise! I deserve to have you do it to me this year!!!
My first and foremost goal in growing giant pumpkins is and always has been--to put smiles on people's faces. Including my own. If I can't smile at the end of the season, regardless of how I've done, then it's time to take a year off!

Taping them and discovering that it is putting on 30-40 pounds a day is very exciting. A close second would be seeing peoples reactions while trailering one to a weigh off.
I only wish my wife was not afraid to tow the trailer, so I could watch all the jaws drop, LOL !!

The whole entire year from start to finish was like being at amusement park when I was 12. EXCITING from start to finish! But the creme de la creme was seeing the faces on the kids when they got close enough to touch it during Pumpkin Show -- total awe. Talk about moving! That was THE moment for me!

Two yearz ago, after the Jareds' weigh off, mozt everybody waz gone except a small group of growerz loading up when two elderly women showed up to see the pumpkins...they were easily in their 80s...they heard about the weigh off on the radio but they were late...Cojoe had his State Record 1135 in the back of his truck and my 1019 was still on the ground...one lady stood and asked questions to the growers while the other walked up to the 1135 & 1019...she was crying and I asked her if she was ok?...she told me something I'll never forget..as she wiped away tears, she told me how her father farmed all of his life and would have loved to see something like this..thatz my Superbowl !

Yes, watching people's reaction while you're driving down the road is great, the only thing better is having it go heavier than you were expecting.

Hearing the tires skid on the street & the sound of Crashing Metal & hearing OH S**T is that a Pumpkin. Also the people at weigh-offs look when you pull up last, almost to late to enter, with the obvious winner.

Two that are tied, I guess!!! Drivin down the road and seein folks hanging outside of the car they are in takin pictures...is way KUL!!! The kid's reactions has to be #1 tho!!! The incredible folks in Indiana, each year, carve open a GIANT (cut out the topside), and then see how many lil ones they can stuff inside !!! It IS an INCREDIBLE site, so many giggles, and laughter (kids & parents) Kids gigglin about slimey toes,(no shoes or socks allowed inside the pkn) and parents just lovin the smiles on their kids faces!!!!!! Way KUL!!! Peace, Wayne

In general sharing this hobby with my family. Other than that, the anticipation just before the pumpkin gets weighed is a rush!

The NJ state trooper asking if the 923 was real or not over the bull horn while we cruised down the highway at 70 mph.

Almost causing multiple accidents on the ramps approaching the Lincoln tunnel in Manhattan while cars battled for position to see and photo the 689.

Working the plants usually barefoot between mid June and late July.

When other growers plant my seeds and have success.

The pride in my 5 year old neice's voice when she tells anyone all about "Uncle Jimmy's Pumpkins."
