I'm completely up in the air on this one. If you have grown both way's what worked better for you. What are the con's of terminating.

Thanks

the last 2 yrs .. i've grown past the fruit.. didnt . get much size,, or stem stress,, this season, however going to terminate at the fruit,, depends on the distance on the main vine,,

I like to let my main run, once the fruit starts to pack on the pounds the plant growth will slow to a crawl. Everybody has there own style of growing so its up to you. I personally would never terminate the main at the pumpkin. I like to let the side vines right before and after the pumpkin run to until I run out of room.

I terminated mine this year on 2 plants and left it growing on another.
I will let the fruit positioning determine if I need to terminate or not. If terminating will relieve stem stress, then I'm all for it. However, if the positioning is perfect and there's no stress, I say let it go.

Thanks all. John-D-Farmer I like your reasoning. I tend to jump the gun. I should have another grower looking over my shoulder at all times to slow me down in my dicisions.
