Little-TON - Colorado

My very good friend BARRY TODD current State champ of COLORADO is asking for your thoughts and prayers for his father whom is in the hosptial and gravely ill. Right now I am printing out a SPECIAL edition of our newsletter for Barry to take over for his father to read. I'm sure his dad IS quite proud of the accomplishments Barry has achieved in growing and in life.

So from the hearts of all pumpkin growers out there, the WIZ asks for a special prayer with deep thoughts for Barry's father.......

I Thank You

Having just joined the rest of the world last year (finally got a computer)-- I've been a quiet observer,& have really enjoyed BigPumpkins.com immensely. I've been especially impressed with the kind concern so many of you express when any other growers are going through deep water! I just got off the phone with my dad, who is dealing with fairly late stage bone cancer, & read to him all of your postings. I could hear him smiling through the phone! He thanks all of you & would like to pass on to each of you this 3,500 year old message: "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace." Then a much more recent message (it's only about 3,000 years old): " I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." He was trying to think of the reference for that last one a few nights ago when I was about to leave the hospital. I later found it. written by the 2nd king of Israel--David, when he wrote Psalms 4:8. It's one I think I'll memorize! My dad has played a huge part in all the giant pumpkins I've grown, over the last 39 years---starting with my first Colorado state record of 115 lbs. in 1972--whoopee!! I will forever be indebted to him for teaching me all about composting, (& letting me use his front end loader to turn it over!!) Even 91 just isn't long enough! Thanks again for your kind prayers and thoughts!
Barry
