I have been doing alot of searching for info on vine management and found alot of good info but still am not sure. So far my pumpkin is set and growing good (I think), day 18/65.5"circ and has been gaining 5.5 inch circ/day for last three days. There is about 500+ square feet of plant before the fruit and have 10 secondaries before fruit not terminated, some growing forward in an pitchfork style. I also have the main vine deadheaded about 5 feet from the kin (accident)with three secondaries at 3-4 feet(all secondaries near fruit are growing very slow) My main question is should I terminate vines yet or wait till the fruit growth slows? I am really nervous about splits. any advice welcome Thanks Ben

Others can chime in here as well, but I would terminate the vines slowly. It has been my experience (the very hard way) that if you terminate more than a couple of vines per day that the fruit will abort. You are exactly where I was last year with my 901 Hunt. I wanted to push the fruit, so I terminated the last 6 vines in one day. The fruit aborted within 2 days. A total waste of a very aggressive plant.

Just to be on the safe side I will terminate 1 vine per day or 2 and leave a few growing forward till later. Just had 2 inch of rain from a thunder storm, hope it holds up! Thanks you for your reply Ben
