ron and i met steve many years ago at our first trip to the durham fair weigh-off, had a beer together after the event and have been friends ever since.
steve helped a lot of growers with sound advise over the years. this is terrible news. my heart goes out to the three of you.

I spoke with Steve, he was very happy to hear a friendly voice.
I highly recommend showing Steve Just how much he has done to advance growing with his knowledge, and that he still has friends.

Tom, I'm sending out a postcard tomorrow letting Steve know how he helped me in the past and wishing him the best. He was a frequent contributor to the boards here at bp.com and was the moderator for [email protected] for several years as well.

I miss his advice and opinions, and will let him know I am a better pumpkin grower for his help.

Several guys from CT Yankee Council (Scouts) stopped by this evening while I was there and presented Steve with several awards he received back in February of 2010, but had never made it to the dinner. It was a perfect opportunity to give it to him now and he was simply overjoyed - it was hard not to cry. His life with Scouts was long and standing and the hours he volunteered of himself were many. Steve never made it past Webelos in cub scouts when he was a young boy, and his determination to see boys succeed to go farthur than he did, spurred him on. Scouts never let another fall. I know he misses not being involved like he was for many years. What a busy man he was!

Out of all the bad news we sometimes get here on bp.com this news really saddens me the most because Steve has always been a real close and personal friend only if we have only seen each other in person a couple times in our lives, we sure did email the heck out of each other alot.

I was kinda wondering why I wasnt getting them excellent politics emails from Steve and all the other funny emails that I would open everyday. His emails where definitely one of a kind that I always looked forward to opening , then one day they just stopped. I knew something wasnt right.

Steve has been a great friend from the beginning of my growing, ever since he was working for LesCO years ago, and when ever I needed help on ANYTHING he always returned every email with a response, and if I ever needed to call him on the phone about something I made sure I had atleast 2 hrs to kill,,lol,, Steve IS a talker thats for sure(LOL) and everything he talked about to me ALWAYS kept my attention span going thats for damn sure, time really flew by when I talked with him on the phone, you would think you was on the phone a half hr and 2 hrs just blew by.

Im praying for a miracle for him Lorraine, always believe Miracles do happen!,,
Im praying for him everyday, and I really pray Steve pulls through . Keep your spirits up like you have been doing even though i know its tuff for you to do, because it will really keep Steve's spirits up as well.
Lorraine, I dont know you very well only from what Steve has said about you, and no doubt you are a great wife to him, I can really tell, he really needs a wife exactly like you in his life at this time, and I know he is very thankful for you being his wife and knows just how lucky he is to have you espically in this hard time in his life.

Keep the prayers going! Steve will kick this thing in the butt!

Please keep the postings going. One of his friends took him downstairs at the nursing home to try and get on the site using their computer, but for some reason couldn't. I know he would like to hear all the wonderful well wishes from all you guys and gals!

Thanks Brooks for the kind words. Anytime your name has come up, it was always with a smile and very kind words. He never forgot to call his friends just to say hi. And talk, he definately had the give of gab. Is there such a reward for this, because he would win hands down. A story-teller from day one. I betcha his mom braged to all her friends as an infant he kept her up all night with his non-stop story-telling! lol
