I want to thank all the growers that have submitted / posted links for various pumpkin problems. I have been busy recently getting some of the better images together and organized. I have two main categories leaf and vine problems that I think should be of interest to all giant pumpkin growers.
So, I am seeking any last submissions of pictures. (I have found a few when I open up the bigpumpkins.com home page and there is the Random Gallery or Diary Photo so your plant maybe included even if you did not submit a link to me directly ;-)
Simply post the link here or send me an e-mail.
As of right now I have about 5 vine problems and about 15 leaf problems. What I am doing is including pictures, descriptions, diagnosis, and prevention/control tips as well as any other ‘in-field’ experiences I have seen or had for some of the listed problems. It has taken quite some time but I hope the end result will be worth it, as there is nothing that specifically focuses on our Giant Pumpkin variety.
Ultimately once this file has reached completion (or at least 1st final draft stage) it will be made available to all growers. I would like to get it posted somewhere here on bigpumpkins.com and while I have the initial OK form Ken we will have to work out the details.

Hi Matt, great idea. I had some issues with a few plants last season. The first may be some kind of a bacterial infection. Some of the symtoms were : Some of the main vine and secondary junctions started spewing yellowish, grey fluid and jelly like juice around August 8th. And yes, it stunk bad.We did get around 2.5 inches of rain about a week earlier. Here are a few pics. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=142472, http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=142473, http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=142474
This plant was very aggressive and never died, it kept on producing vine growth and fruits all season, even after my big fruit was harvested near the end of Aug. One thing to note, is that most of the new fruits that I let set, almost all of them rotted. Some had the nasty grey sap oozing from the fruit before they totally rotted.
