Thinking about next year and preventing the UV damage to the leaves....
Has anyone had experience using the white 22% shade cloth??
This is what I am considering using, but with the price I am looking for some input from anyone who has used this before I make the investment. Will this prevent leaf damage while still letting enough sunlight through for the plants...
Any thoughts are welcome...
Cheers..

Joe Scherber uses a 22% shade cloth and I used a 15% shade cloth this last year. At over 5,300 feet in altitude our UV rays are about 20% higher than at sea level and I can say that the shade does make some difference in protecting the leaves. I think it also helps in hot weather as well.
I got my hail netting from a company in Italy called Retilplast. They have good quality netting and even with shipping it was less expensive than anywhere I found in the states. When I purchased I just emailed with Antonio (contact information below) to place the order. He can be a little slow replying to emails but he always did reply. You can see their different hail nettings at www.retilplast.it/en/. My netting held strong in a fairly big hail storm that we had in June of this year. I have the 5/4 Anti-Hail Net - 'Kristal'.

Bp I have used 22%,30%and a little 15% last year.My guess is 15% would be appropriate for your conditions.22% might be too much unless you desighn a system where you can take it off in cloudy conditions

22% I used, but very different climates, worked very well here for me, let's plenty of light in.

All I could get at the time was 50%, but I just cover the main vine tip with it. Worked great for me.
