Hello All,

This is a two part post First part:

Is there a actual difference between Lithovit and C02?
For example the makeup of the product, or the milling process.

Next part:

Where any studies done this past season by grower groups or individual growers that shows the actual benefits or lack of benefits these products have on our pumpkin plants and fruit growth?

I want to here your Information so please don't hold back, even if you did not do a controlled study of either product tell us what you thing about it and how it worked for you!

Thanks all!

Hi Pumpkin Picker-

The only independent research looking at the CO2 product you mentioned that I can find is located under the “Downloads” section of www.Team-Pumpkin.org

Other products were trialed but CO2 was done both in combination as well as an isolated treatment on 3 different cucurbits (winter squash, field pumpkins, and the giant pumpkins). While this was a greenhouse study it does have some more controlled conditions when compared to a typical field set-up.

Look at the charts for the results, comments are welcome.

Jane & I have used both & can tell you in our humble opimion, that Lithovit is better. The way it's produced & the levels of micronutrients contained within it cannot be copied by RTI's CO2 product period. There's copyright laws to protect that.

We were part of the initial trials of Lithovit in 2009 & it did great for us. We tried the CO2 at the start of last season & didn't get the same results we had the season before. By the time we changed back to the Lithovit in late July, the plants were in pretty bad shape. John V finally had gotten us some stuff that slowed the pace of the disease & we went back to using Lithovit for Aug & Sept, but the damage had already been done. Dispite the damage, the plants did pick up some growth afterwards, but the damage was too much to save the plants completely & they stopped growing in early Sept. Plants only gained 50# this year in Sept compared with 300# in 2009.

That was our experience with it. Why use a different product, when the real stuff (original product we used in 2009)is readily available & cheaper than the price we got last year. I hope this helps.

Jane & Phil
