Hi All
With all the online raffles & auctions going on this year, we thought we should remind you all not to forget about the GVGO's Annual Fundraising raffle. This is our only fundraiser for the year. We don't do an auction because we want all growers (just not the richest growers) to have a chance at winning one of top seeds in the World. This year's line up of seeds is awesome, just take a look for yourself.

Tickets sales are very slow & a way behind last year's numbers. This is likely due to the economy. Don't forget get your tickets before the draw. Details are on the raffle page.
A big thank you to all those growers who donated seeds &/or have purchased tickets. Your continued support is gratefully appreciated.
Merry Christmas, Jane & Phil GVGO Raffle committee

hi Phil "Tickets sales are very slow & a way behind last year's numbers. This is likely due to the economy. Don't forget get your tickets before the draw. Details are on the raffle page"
I don't think the economy is the only factor here. There much more auction this winter than in previous years. Personally I think another big factor for the reduced interest is the changed rules for the raffle with significant reduced chance of winning any seed at all.
Merry Christmas Daniel

Daniel, with anything you can't please everyone but in the past we have had alot of feedback from ticket purchasers that indicated they thought having so many seed up for raffle was not good either as many won seeds they would never grow. That is why we changed the format so people could buy tickets on the seeds that are actually going to see dirt.
We do appreciate your comments.

I have to agree with Daniel. If you want to be in all the draws for the best chance of winning something, it would cost 250 bucks. I could just go out and buy the seeds I want, and be sure I get them.
Wishing everyone the best this holiday season Derek

Ultimately its not really about getting a seed is it??? It is about supporting the clubs!!! Getting a seed is the bonus!! Without the support of growers buying seeds at auctions or buying tickets for raffles, and without the countless hours the volunteers who organize and run the clubs put in.......there would not be any weigh offs!!! This off season is about supporting our hobby, so even if you do not have a lot of money you can still show your support by purchasing a raffle ticket here or there, or buying a lesser known seed at an auction. The GVGO format offers growers who cannot afford to get a big name seed for a $5 donation. If you cannot afford to buy any seeds or make any donations, then there are so many great seeds out there that will grow very large pumpkins, and these you can get for the cost of a bubble......its not always about the "name game"!!! Support at the level you can, and enjoy the hobby for what it is.....after all it is just that isn't it...a hobby!!!
Merry Christmas to all...and all the best to you and yours in the new year!!

It all depends on your perspective, I guess. I got used to the old format and liked it, partly because I got lucky my first year and won an 842 Eaton. I liked having a chance at any seed in the raffle, even if I might win some that I'm not interested in planting. On the other hand, I definitely have my eye on one particular lot in this year's raffle, and if I can afford to I will buy a few tickets. Knowing that sales have been slow makes me think there's a better chance of winning than I originally thought.

brian, you are correct!!! it is about supporting the clubs, i try my hardest to bid on something at every auction, extra seeds to give away to a new grower is the best, or trade for a great seed! ect.... anyway try to donate and the bonuses will come sooner or later.. ps phil, i will send in my donation this weekend!!scott.

Thanks Bryan, Scott & PJ for your feedback.
PJ, there are only 4 lots with more than 15 tickets sold in it, so I think that the chances are still pretty good.
In fact Lots # 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, & 28 have only 3 or less tickets purchased on them.
We appreciate your continued support.
Merry Christmas, Jane & Phil
