I thought it was just $20 ? Donating your kidneys seems a bit excessive!

same here, its like you need the secret decoder ring! hope to grow a giant next year and not list it there. you dont even get an e-mail back that says no! or at least the reasons why you cant send the $20? or at least saying "your being concidered!" sorry, i dont want to step on any toes, but if one is that serious about growing ,and requesting membership, it should be allowed, i'm so glad bigpumpkins did not have a review process to join or i probably would'nt be growing ag's. thought this was about sharing information, espically for the new grower,,sorry i tend to ramble on when things do not make any sense, scott.

Same here, I agree with Marley. Ought to at least have the courtesy to answer you. I may not have grown a world record but I work just as hard and love to grow the AG. Maybe we can start a reject site.

Every year there seems to be a post like this about the aggc,,lol,, Scott,,, Master,,,,its not like you guys think, it might be that Mike isn't receiving your emails, maybe yours is going into his spam or just being over looked by mistake Im betting he gets loads of countless emails, not counting the emails he receives for pumpkin pics and info.
I had to re send a email to him (info and pic of pumpkin) just two weeks ago that just never went through to him,but he finally got it after I resent it again.
Just Keep trying,

Wow....all I did was send him a nice email explaining who I was, what I grow, who I know and how I could contribute to the site. I have no idea why dissing him and his website in public isn't working for you.

pumpkin shepherd , after several tries, and hearing about the same thing from other people, there might be a problem somewhere that needs to be addressed. do you think another e-mail to the site would solve this problem? what should someone do? this is why i posted , last year i tried, a few times, so, maybe wait another year, this year i tried, nothing again? lets see, what to do? hummmmm. i know i will call a freind to see if he could do something? guess what? nothing again... i know there are other ways of expressing my concern, but maybe we need an address so i can send a letter, instead of an e-mail that never gets there. any thought on your end would be helpful? thanks so much, scott

Hey all! Arvadaboy has been so kind to pull together information on many of the top pumpkin lines. I find his site:http:/www.pumpkinlink.com very helpful. Here is what he recently posted in the genetics section of our BP message board-"2010 pumpkin seed data is now available on www.pumpkinlink.com. Search over 10,500 pumpkin seeds by family trees, pollinator, grower and progeny. thanks again to bigpumpkins.com and the GPC for supplying the data".
If some of you are frustrated with aggc, go check out the pumpkinlink site-it's free-and has lots of info...Thanks Arvadaboy I really APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORT!

aggc is what it is, the owner of the site can decide what the joining rules are, he/she owns that site it is up to them what the rules of joining that site are.

@marley -- If you really want to contact him a quick lookup on whois.com for the site name will give you a name, address and phone # to mail a letter or call. (assuming the info is still accurate)

I never got an answer when I first tried, then I emailed in fall to ask why, and he said he was behind and busy (it was right after weigh-offs). I just re-submitted my info, and got the payment link in 2 days. Maybe he doesn't get all requests, or maybe try to avoid busy times of year.

i,m sorry for jumping the gun, he probably is busy or behind with the listing of all the new pumpkins this year. when i sent the e-mails (last year and this year) it was about the same time of year, i will try during the summer, scott.

Im not trying to come off the wrong toward you guys, and I shouldn't have even said anything. but the only reason I did is because I know Mike rarely comes on the site,(not that he dont want to) but I like Mike along with most everyone in the pumpkin growing community, and I just hate to see negative comments thrown at him and for him to get a bad rap for something he cant control, he is a great guy and you will see that once you get to talk to him and know him.
But just going by what Mike has told me a couple years ago when he ''used'' to have very limited amount of growers that was members because of the amount of space he had on his older type computer ( or something similar to that),,,but then he did opened it up a few years ago for all to join.

I understand, I guess some of the frustration is that we don't know if we're been rejected or the messages aren't getting through for some reason. We can't address that problem if we don't know. I guess we just keep trying.

I have to agree with Brooks, I like Mike, he has been nothing less then a gentleman anytime I've communicated with him. Although it isnt my place to defend Mike, and I do understand it can be frustrating, try to understand, it does take a whole lot of time and effort to maintain a website, never mind an ever growing database, I personally would not want that task, not to mention a family, a job, and a life outside of pumpkins. Alot of growers like to post negetive comments about the site for whatever reason they see necessary, but for some of us, it has been instrumental in researching over years. First make sure that you have the correct email address, then email after the holidays, that would probably be the right time, give a little history about yourself, what you have grown, and just try to remember that he is human like the rest of us. Just my 2 cents.

mastercraftx2, donate kidneys? Having gone through 3 kidney transplant surgeries I wouldn't recommend that...unless you're brain dead then harvesting both wouldn't matter.

I don't usually get involved in stuff like this, but I have to agree with Brooks. We are all lucky that Mike has busted his butt to put together a site that has helped most of us grow bigger pumpkins. Without this database we'd be flipping coins to decide what seeds to grow. I can only imagine the time involved in the creation and maintenance of a site like the AGGC. So give him the benefit of the doubt until you hear the whole story.

I e-mailed Mike this morning and he responded right away. It seems that he was not getting the application. Must be something with my computer programs. We'll see if he gets my app this time. If not I'll have to get my computer guru in here.
