Today is the day of the earliest sunset of the year. Within a half-hour here where I sit it'll be down. We're in dense fog, so I won't get to see it.

This is not the shortest day. Usually that is Dec. 21. The latest sunrise is not until around Jan. 4.

Nothing important here, just making an observation. I usually throw a minor celebration when this moment passes!

Sunset at 4:03 here. Funny, I had this discussion with a fellow at work and it seems a lot of people aren't aware of the way our days vary in length. I really hate those late mornings in January!

I guess what I notice this time of the year the most is how far southeast the sun rises and how far to the southwest it sets opposite from summer. It's neat to observe it move over just a few weeks with only 2 days of the year rising and setting from due east to west.

I guess going into work at dark and leaving work at dark sucks too.lol

Well, I just learned something new. Everyone's earliest sunset and latest sunrise vary in date. It varies with your latitude. So, if you're north of me, you haven't missed it! Throw a party!
