Seems as though there is a lot of interest in getting some testing done on Giant pumpkins. I would like some relative posts on this, as to what would be relative to going to the next level So far, I have 3 items to be looked at 1)genetic difference or lack there of between male flowers from Main vine to side vines and at 2 different times
2)how many chromosomes
3)genetic differerence from a pumpkin and a selfed version ie 1385 Jutras and 1725 Harp
If someone out there is growing a 1385 and 1725 in the same patch, I'd like to hear from you, could really use your help.

Genetic mapping , would be difficult to achieve however if one can find an interested party it would be easy to do. An AG Department at a major University could accomplish this. Perhaps a grad school thesis. I know we have growers with strong academic ties. Also to simply get a chromosome count and pay for it might not be too expensive. This interests me as well.

Good deal iceman. If you can't get a 1385 and 1725 in the same patch, I'd be willing to grow them, lol. Or, I'd be willing to grow a true red-orange producer, with that same genetic that has been selfed a few times. But I need someone to offer up the seed.
