I used it. There is no physical way i can tell you if my plant was better because of it. I did test the brix twice after using it and did not notice any difference. Will i use it next year........YES. i did not see any harm and it has small quantities of micronutrients. i sprayed every 7 days under and over every mature leaf. I was warned to stay away from new growth as it would make the new growth too sensitive for the sun and it would burn. At times i got too close to the new growth and they did burn but they also finished out maturing and continued to be fine. I think everyone should continue to use it and give feedback.

We used both the CO2 (from RTI) & Lithovit this passed year & like the Lithovit better. In fact we have decided that it will be a full-time addition to our fert program for all our gardens & flower beds. It seems to work on our shrubs as well. We found the CO2 didn't work as good for us in 2010 as the Lithovit did in 2009. By the time we realized that there was a difference (color & weight of product) in the two products, it was too late to get the results that we were hoping for. We thought that they were exactly the same stuff only a name change, but that is not the case. Lithovit & CO2 are different in the way it's made & some of the ingredients. That was just our experience with it. You just need to look at our plants in early Aug & see that they were in very bad shape. We both believe the change back to Lithovit in early Aug helped us reach the weights we did manage to get, but in the end, the damage was too great to come back from. The pumpkins only grew a total of 50# in Sept, compared to 300#+ in 2009. The weather was also better in 2010, then in 2009.

I don't know what the Lithovit Forte is. Likely a premixed product of some sort by the looks of things. It's not available here in North America, just Europe. Just the regular Lithovit here.

Dean, try Lithovit for 3-4 weeks & then re-check your Brix numbers & see if you start to see a small increase. We sure would be interested to see if it did & if so, by how much. Vineyard operators are seeing increases of their brix readings using Lithovit & I can't see why we shouldn't too. We did notice a burning issue on new leaves, but that was a high temps problem for us, not a spraying issue, as we always keep the tank mixture to the lower end of the recommended rates & sprayed evenings @ 8-9 pm to avoid that problem. This has been our experience using both products, but you should form your own opinion by testing them. We hope this helps.

Thats a good thing to think of phil. I actually test the brix each week and watch the concentration levels during the 2weeks of the month that growth is minimal. The brix levels go down when there is a surge of growth so the brix levels change all the time. They kind of form an arch trend like the trend of pumpkin growth so you have to know where your at if your gonna pick up an increase in brix levels. I have been doing this for years and did not see the increase due to the co2 spray. I also test and use it on my grapes and no change there either. and watermelon, and canteloupe. I deeply understand exactly how the spray is to work but cannot find a way to prove that it is working yet.

Phil, im still using it next year. There is so much to be known about this yet because i have seen no negative effects which is strange for how much i used and all the items i used it on. My bad was that i used it on everything so i had nothing to compare to.

you used it on tomatoes Phil?

Yes, we used it on our 7.33# tomato, 222.4# watermelon, 60# cabbage & everything else that grew. We also had great results with it in our regular garden & flower beds. We're very happy to see that it's now available in Canada. We've tried a crap load of products in the past. Some good, lots of crap though. Lithovit is one of the products that we believe really works. Our results using it have us convinced anyway.

Dean try the Lithovit brand (www.lithovitcanada.ca) next year & I'm sure you'll see an increase in your brix readings. Read the testimonial below. It talks about how they controlled disease problems & increased their brix readings on their worst plots. Take a couple seconds, you might just find it interesting......Phil

Lithovit®™ Comments; Results:

Lithovit®™, 2009 Testing Existing Vineyard

Issues are:
#1)Phyllixera
#2)Botrytis
#3)Late Harvest, unusable grapes-(low brix, high pH).

1) Phylloxera Issue...2009

"On the Phylloxera trial it’s too soon to tell the total effect, visually looking good... We have recorded pruning weights this winter and we will compare treated vs control over a few years and see what happens. It looks to have positive results...
Granted that this is only one year’s results but so far I am encouraged by the effectiveness of this product for several needs."

2) Botrytis issue: 2009

#1- "In the botrytis trail (during an elivated condition via OSU) it was as effective as Serenade giving good control. (noted savings in comparison) The trail area is approximately 8 acres."...Rudy

#2- FYI, so far on our Botrytis trial we are experiencing 100% control with the Lithovit in a year with pressure. I'll keep you updated on that front.

Result: Cancelling of 2 expensive speciality sprays. (300 Ac @ $12,500 x 2) A savings of $25,000.

Thanks for all your help in this project. I'm very glad to be getting these good results.

3) Late Harvest issues: 2009

"George, We have some results in on the ripening trial with Lithovit. We choose a block of Pinot Gris (Block 11) that has historically been average or slightly behind average in ripening compared to our other blocks. In
addition, one half of the block has been weaker than the other, maybe not a great choice but I thought it would be a very challenging test.

I choose the weak half of Block 11 to apply Lithovit.
We picked three Pinot Gris blocks in the past two days. Block 5 and 8.
Block 5 we consider our best and make our Reserve Pinot Gris from that
block. 5 along with 8 are almost always the first to ripen.

Below are the Brix readings on the juice in the tanks:

Block 5 - 23.5
Block 8 - 21.8
Block 11 - 24.0 (with Lithovit)
Block 11 - 25.2 (with Lithovit)

Obviously something happened in all of Block 11 to accelerate ripening but
the historically weak half that was sprayed with Lithovit was significantly riper than the control. The significance of this for marginal vintages is obvious." Rudy

"In the ripening trial we split a 9 acre block of Pinot Gris in half and sprayed half with Lithovit and half without. I made the comparison a little uneven because the side that was treated with Lithovit has historically been weaker. The results were that the Lithovit side came in a full degree brix higher at harvest." (Noted: By improving the ripening timing the rising pH issue was avoided)

...Thanks for all your help in this project. I'm very glad to be getting these good results."
