Pap, here in the Livingston County side of things we got snow, but it didn't last, and it was a nice clear day today with a dusting of snow, just enough to bring my snow plow guy out to do the driveway, otherwise, not bad. It started out as rain, and switched over to heavy wet snow....free fertilizer I say, horray. I hate the snow but it could be much worse, our friends in Buffalo are not having a good week.

Made the national news tonight I see. A small area (basically from Hamburg - OP - South Buffalo) is getting clobbered. Thin little band coming off the lake, and sitting right there.

Only a couple inches in the yard here, no big deal.

Pap, Got about a foot in Hamburg but a little north and east 3 feet. Thruway back open now and just the clean up ahead. It was a small abnd all in all with nothing in downtown Buffalo to 3 feet in Depew and Elma. This is a case where 3 miles made a 3 foot difference in snowfall. Nothing we can't handle! Only 3-5 inches predicted for today and more tonight. Stay warm! /Ray (Collins had nothing until last night!)

Just for a little perspective - when conditions are right off open Lake Erie we can get hammered. In 1998 we got 10 feet in 10 days here in Hamburg. Then when the Lake is frozen other conditions can cause a disaster - like in the "Blizzard of '77" when a foot of snow lay over the frozen lake and the wind blew like a freight train for a week and drifted it over Western New York. One spot on Rt 75 had 75 feet drifted in. BUT - the worst driving I've been in in a long time was going to Niagara 3 years ago! /Ray

South of Buffalo

I live in the southern part of West Seneca near the Hamburg Lakawanna border(quite close to Rich stadium) and can say we had just over 3 feet from wed night through thursday evening. Over 4.5 feet drifted on the roof which required shoveling twice. Completely shut down the town, the thruway and all side roads in and out. Much better now.

I'd still take the snow over the flooding down by Andy!

Went down to Allegany tonight, never seen the river that high. Sounds like it crested the 11th worst it has been in recorded history.

thanks guys, its good to chat with growers and friends from my home area.
i miss the good old days....... the snow, the severe thunder storms, the creeks overflowing, all the good stuff around silver creek.
here in rhode island if they get even a forcast of snow people are emptying out the grocery stores, all the milk and bread is gone, gas tanks are toped off and schools either close early or cancel all together.
