Just curious. I'm working on a seed, as of now 1128Beauchemin (1566Rodonis x 998Pukos) x 340Beauchemin (503Beauchemin (503 is a 898Knauss remake) x 898Knauss)which is now the 224Brouiilard, then I pollinated the 224Brouillard with 750Mudd, the 750Mudd is the opposite cross of the 898Knauss, now is the 110Brouillard, I then will pollinate it with the 800Henken (689Beauchem (4 generations of 898Knauss)x 1375Liggett (grew the 2nd largest pumpkin size wise, Scott this year is crossing the 800Henken pollinating it with the 1169Jutras(1354Checkon,it grew the worlds largest pumpkin size wise, x 845Bobier) have'nt decided where to go with it once this is complete. I know the 845Bobier and 898Knauss really went together well after looking at the 1068 wallace. Also working on color. I took the 1003Christensen, extremely orange x 975Kline, a red orange color, planning on adding orange to that. The 374Drum (1191Northrup x 869Calai)is a strong contender

I crossed the 603.5 Muller with the 1421.5 Stelts this year. The 1421.5 kept pace till 600 pounds then got sick and stopped growing. The pumpkin had decent orange color at its early age so I see potential in this cross. The 603.5 was a long one but very dark orange. I'm going to grow it in 2011.

Our cross plans have been in place for over 5 years & this year we finally perfected it. It all started with the 845 Bobier x 898 Knauss (1068 Wallace).
We crossed the 842 Eaton into the 1068 Wallace to grow the 1093 Hunt.
The 1093 was grown & we crossed the 898 Knauss back into it. That became the 901 Hunt.
The 901 was grown & we crossed the 1156 Hunt (1631 Mckie x 1689 Jutras) into it. That became the 1678 Hunt
The 1678 was grown & we crossed the 898 Knauss back into it again this past season. This is now the 1080.6 Hunt.
If you look into the background of the 1080, you'll see the 898 there 3 times, only every other cross. A breeding plan that an old farmer told me years ago, so we thought we'd give it a try.
We'll plant the 1080 in 2011 & see how it will do, but I expect nice results from it. The 1810 would cross well into it seeing that it was @ 17% heavy. Are you listening Chris S? LOL, just kidding, but could you imagine the results. We'll buy some tickets on it, so we at least have a shot at winning it. If not, I guess the 1161 will have to do. ;o)

You might take note that Phils crosses and how he plans it out are nothing short of incredible with a splash of genetic luck. I will say and yes I am tooting my own horn that the 898 Knauss that he put in this year was of a clone I grew in 09 and Stan Pugh and I put the Knauss into several different pumkins in 09 and all the kins we grew out this year that had the Knauss init went a minimum of 206 to my kin I grew at 247lbs over. There were 6 pumpkins grown/weighed off of the seeds that we had put the Knauss into. Know our final test will be seeing what comes from the Kins that 3 different growers used our Knauss clone do for them. I know I am growing seeds from 2 or 3 seeds from the indiviual growers that used my knauss clone. Our club will be auctioning off lots that feature these growers that used my 898 Knauss clone in our club auction on Dec.12th. So anyhow I really respect the planning that Phil and many other growers/HH grow and manage to do real well as we all know putting together a good cross is fairly easy put then have the genetic part of it come together is often the biggest challenge. so my Hat is off to those whom manage to accomplish them year in and year out Thanks you and good night !!

I don't know why more growers don't use the 689 & 820Beauchemin, they are 4 and 5 generations of 898Knauss, thats a 898Knauss pollinated by a 898Knauss 4 and 5 times over. If you look at Jim-B's photo album you can see them, them look powerpacked and hard as a rock. Why are'nt more heavy hitters using them, taking advantage of these great seeds.
