Matt, just wondering if you will be cloning any AG plants again this winter? I was sceptical about trying a 1385 clone this year because I did not know if clones are capable of normal AG growth. But after seeing what they did for other growers I think I might be interested in trying one.

Hi Jordan-
To answer your question, yes I am working on cloning AG plants again this off-season!
I am sure you were not alone in being skeptical but the preliminary trials from last year do show some promise. There were some concerns with lack of early roots and I am working on a way to correct this for the 2011 season.
Also, I will let growers know sooner what I may have available. Right now, I have 3 different plants going, but there have been some initial problems. The 1421.5 Stelts plant that grew the 1663 Zoellner pumpkin has the most vigor and looks the best.
The 1161 Rodonis plant that grew the 1725 Sweet came in with a virus infection due to late season aphids (I think) that has resulted in me having to throw-out most of the plant material that I initially received. I did the best I could but I could just not risk viral transmission. However, I *may* have a clean vine tip, it may only be one small section but I can make more if it is not internally infected and grows. I will know more in about a month’s time as to if it looks like it is going to make it, I am hopeful.
I do have another plant and I may be getting yet another set of genetics but I am going to wait before I revile what these are as I am not sure yet if they are going to make it. (No plant material from the 1810, just so you know.)
I will let you and everyone else know that I learned a lot from last year’s trial and I have increased my production capabilities to hopefully meet the increase in demand. The key with the clones is to get more people to grow (try) them so we can learn the little tricks to getting these plants.
Thanks for your interest in the clone project.

Thanks for the response, Matt!
I'm really starting to get interested it AG cloning. I'm cloning the 900 Sandvik plant I grew this year, seems to be going good. Let me know how the cloning process goes, maybe through diary...?
Come Sping, I'm guaranteed to grow a clone of yours. I'm keeping my eyes on that 1421.5!

Jordan- Take a look at my 2010 Dairy while I am still adding material (there will be some more clone pictures being updated soon) it does show my method I used to get the clones for the original preliminary study.
