we all know who the old stand-by kings and queens of our hobby are. they have been putting out big weights most years for quite a while now and, they certainly deserve recognition because of those past/present accomplishments.
this year however i see several somewhat newer growers pushing the big boys and gals down a peg or two at many of the october local weigh-offs.
this tells me our hobby is growing almost as fast as a giant pumpkin in early august.
the question for you is? what grower competing in your area scares you the most for 2011?
in the sngpg/rhode island weigh-off id have to say charles lieber looks like a qualified contender to be around for as long as he chooses to grow giant pumpkins.yes its true he won this year but, he also did very well in 2009 as a grower breaking into the top five our weigh-off.
who might be the new sheriff in your neck of the woods?

Not many growers in Missouri which is why I ask so many questions on here. Now if I were to refer to my original home state of Illinois, there is a grower up in Joliet that puts ups some #s.

Nobody "scares" me, but clearly Kevin Snyder is the best up-and-comer in PA. Soon to be followed closely by me, I hope! You gotta love it when the competition inspires you to be the best you can be.

I agree with Mark -Kreig is the one of the best growers in this neck of the woods. and on top of all that he is one heck of a nice fellow.. Kreig has only been growing 5 or 6 years he has won the weigh off twice and is always in the top 5.

Sheriff right now, my dude Chris Stevens, he ran for sheriff last couple years as just a right in candidate and dayum near won those elections, just look at his weights over the last 3 years, they just keep going up. Hes going to be around a long long time.
also watch out for Chad Revier, and Don Young, these guys are just getting started, they had their bad year this year, and have it out of the way now)
Id say New Sheriff next year,,, on a guess,,, your gonna see a guy named Hopkins possibly.
all time greatest sheriff in my book with out question, and will grow a WR someday, Quinn Werner.
