What is the ideal soil sample test results?

There is really no ideal soil test result, all of our soil is different, tons of factors, geographical areas, how its been prepped or not prepped over the years, what you have put into the soil as far as ferts and amendments are concerned.

Does your soil color have plenty of dark brown along with some black specs, chunks and gobs in it ? Do you have a consistent presence of earthworms in the top 6 to 8 inches during the prime growing months of April through September ?
Are you capable of maintaining in that soil a level of moisture content that is regularly damp or moist, while avoiding the extremes of soggy/saturated or dry/parched ?
If so, then at least half of those concerns possibly approached with any soil analaysis are....already remedied !
Build the macro and microbiology, feed them with substances they love to process, and avoid the synthetic chemicals. I know, I know, but you're growing pumpkins and people generally do not eat (giant) pumpkins.
O.k., never mind.

WOW..not sure if I can answer awl those ?s TMan!!! my soil is mostly a light tan color...clayish!!!I know I dint do it in 2010!!! So, what now? Lot's of us out here are tryin to build a substantial soil biology, by doing the correct stuff!!! Soil test? Make the corrections, soil test again in the spring? Then what, call you, or Tom??? LOL Just Kiddin...thanks for awl you do, and Tom Too!!! PS..prbly not...when I got 7" of rain in the first week of July, and approx zero for the rest of the year!!! T, Man...Keep it up!!! It makes some of us try harder!!!
