Stephans Pumpkins

What do you understand under the "best squash seed"?
New WR producer?
Best color or shape?
Easy growing plant?

For size speaking I would say that the 1236 vincent/mcgill would be your best bet. It is the WR for size/weight. I have one of them that I am contemplating on growing next year if I have the room.

depends on who's rules your following, and what your intent is.

If you dont care if it will be ruled a pumpkin or not, you have lots more choices.

Technically speaking, the 800* Neily is your best bet as it produced the 1236* Vincent-McGill.

Com-on Wayne, you know better than to bring that discussion up that again LOL!

Agree, The 800 Neily produced the 1236 WR and produced many a big one this year too -- it is perhaps the most sought after seed for a big-um (if you can get it!). There are other nice seeds out there .. 1236 Vicent/Mcgill (grown off 800 Neily), several Hester, several MacKenzie, 1033 Madgcz, several Timm ... and many not so well named seeds

Now I personally like fried crooked necked squash, so have to say that is the best squash seed! Doesn't meet GPC squash rules though :P

If you are going for weight then try to get a 800 Neily. IMO the 772 Poirier of the squash world id the 834 Gadberry or 823 Gadberry. Beautiful dark green, if you can get one.

Don't overlook the 1055 Pitura that grew the WR 1234 Wursten and 1012 Pitura and 3 over 900 1st year out.
