Hi all,
Just got done carving the Travis' 1227 Gienger Yesterday at the TCF stadium, was filmed by ESPN, and should be aired in time lapse today at during the Gopher football game Today.
If anyone can record it and load it onto youtube I would be in thier debt. :)

It will probably be available for replay on ESPN3 (http://espn.go.com/espn3/index#) - usually the replays are available about 1 hour after the game finishes so should be able to view it there anytime after the game finishes. The game is scheduled to be broadcast live at 8PM eastern - so I'm pretty sure the replay will be available about 1 hour after the game ends also !

Just noticed you are in Minnesota so might be effected by a blackout of the broadcast - I'll see about finding it this evening in the replay (will not be home during game time) and If I can find it will record it to my HDD and then upload the timelapse to youtube (Is it going to be broadcast as one piece during halftime or are they planning on showings parts of the timelapse as the game progresses ?)
Can't promise they will have it in the replay -- so if anyone else has the chance to tape it and upload please do but if it is available in the replay I'll do it also !

I'm not 100% sure. They did not give me the exact details. :(
All I know is that the camera guys insisted it would be on during the game. Don't know if its pre-game, half time, or exactly when.

If you do manage to get it from a replay the game and onto youtube that would be awesome.
I do think it will be broadcastin just 1 piece.

Ok then - I'll take a look through the replay when I get home this evening and if I can find it will record it to my computer and upload to youtube for you. Hopefully they will include it in the replay footage !

Meathead,
I have kinfolk in Saint Cloud and would be interested if you know them. My uncle is Ed Gerchy and he wrote an outdoor newspaper for years there called "Ed Gerchy's Outdoor Outlines". He has fished with Babe Winkleman and many others in that neck of the woods. He lives on River Avenue.

Thanks Bryan, the compliment means a lot!
It actually went a lot faster than last year too. I had some custom made tools, that really cut down on the time needed.
Next year I'm bringing materials to build a sturdier support though. I was praying the 1227 would not tip over or slide down the whole time I was workin on her.
I felt safer about it after about 300 pounds had been carved away from her however. :)

MEathead -- Sorry for the delay in getting it posted - They didn't post the replay last night and finally got it posted this evening (think they were rebroadcasting the game tonight so waited to post the replay footage and then was busy with the Trick or Treaters today so took awhile to get a chance to post - Hope this is what you wanted ! -- ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMpoCxlLttI ) The carving looked really good !

JD your're my hero! Thank you.
That is exactly what I wanted.
I just downloaded it off of youtube, as realplayer lets me do that.
I'm glad they put it on the replay too.

Glad to hear you got it -- Just wasn't sure how long youtube would let it stay posted (since it is ESPN material) they sometimes remove them after a short while (though having it marked as unlisted usually keeps it there longer since it is not open to public viewing without knowing the link)
Nice job on the carving - It really takes a lot of skill to have them come out that good looking.
