Using the data on Pumpkin Link I've pulled a report for the top 20 pumpkin seeds of all time with a minimum of ten and five progeny. Listed is the seed followed by the average weight. A number of familiar seeds with a number of seeds from 2009 breaking the top 20 lists.
Minimum 10 Progeny: 1161 Rodonis 1182 1421.5 Stelts 1167 991 Urena 1152 1068 Wallace 1130 1450 Wallace 1115 1566 Rodonis 1089 1385.5 Jutras 1068 998.6 Pukos 1047 901 Hunt 1042 1544.5 Revier 1041 904 Stelts 1038 985 Werner 1036 1288 Wallace 1023 1092 Martin 1007 1350.5 Starr 1002 1207.4 Young 1000 1306 Jutras 997 1041.5 Mckie 991 1556.5 Werner 990 1725 Harp 983

Great job -- I know that is a lot of work! I noticed some apearing on both lists with same numbers -- just wondering if it would be more proper to compare the top 5 of on the 10 list to the 5 list? If so the 1161 and 1421 are both over 1500! I know that isn't quite the same as more on the 10 list was grown and thus would skew it -- just a question??? Also, 1068 wallace is in family tree of like 90 percent of all top fruit ... and the 1161 and 1421! just my observation. Anyway, fantastic job Jamie!

Ideally SWdesert what I'd like to do is run the same top ten lists with a minium of 5 progeny and 10 progeny but drop the bottom 10% of progeny from the formula. One weakness with the top 10 lists above is there are pumpkins listed that for whatever reason were not grown to their potential (sometimes grown just for seeds, other times grown by an inexperienced grower). Some new pumpkins would make the list if the lists were done that way because the curve breakers would be eliminated. None the less, it would be hard to argue that any of the seeds on the lists couldn't grow someone a personal best which is why this list is posted here.
