What a great trip. 40 hours of driving and nearly 3000 miles later we are back home and I'm hammering through too many emails / bubble packs....lol.
What a great opportunity. Meeting some of the growers that got me to where I'm at had to be the most rewarding part of the trip. Amy and I were talking on the truck ride back and I told her I really had a chance to think about how appreciative I am for the help and support from other growers. It's an amazing feeling and I hope I was able to project that to the fantastic group of people I shared time with over the past few days.
I hope in the last few days we have put a nice positive spin on the hobby using the national spotlight. I hope this may open the doors further for the lucky growers that share this opportunity down the line.

Chris and Amy,
Very happy to hear you survived the NYC gauntlet intact. You two have been great ambassadors for the hobby as have been those before you. It's something I expect from giant pumpkin growers, having known many over the past few years. Hopefully, you two can relax a bit in the comfort of your own home and, as you said, sift through the many e-mails and seed requests. It truly is a great honor to represent so many dedicated and fanatical people in a hobby so few understand.
I was reminded of just how humble and dedicated growers really are this week at the Circleville Pumpkin Show.
My biggest thrill this week was seeing the Cecil Weston family experience "pumpkin hell" for four days and the joy that goes with it. I can only imagine what it must be like for a new WR holder.

Congrats Chris. I am not sure my back could have endured the trip but sounds like a once in a lifetime experience. (or maybe twice)
