Hi Ken, Long time fan of your site and all you have done for the Pumpkin World. Dani and I were wondering why on your home page the World record holders pumpkin is shown below the California record pumpkin? It would seem the mighty WR would be on top?? Thanks you for all you do! Dani Gadberry

Hey, what about the 1236 WR squash at the bottom beneath a handful of seeds and a logo ;)

Running this site isn't free or easy so it's probably a paid advertisement like the ones that run in the upper right hand corner of the page. If you click on the pic of the pumpkin it takes you to Joel's page. I just figured that Joel paid for that spot & that's his right to do so. The competion is growing for the growers buisness. I know the Gadberry's have been on this site about as long as I have & the marketing towards the growers have grown 1000% since I first logged on in 2000.

Is the layout different on everyone's screen? Carl you say you haven't scrolled that far down in a while? I have to scroll by it everytime I check to see what's new on the site, so that statement doesn't make sense to me?

My guess is, that it is a chronological thing, the post recent announcement appears at the top.

Well, I have to pay the bills. So paid advertisements sometimes win out for awhile. I think my website has a minimal amount of ads. You would not believe what some advertisers want me to do to the home page!

I could only imagine Ken, to this day I'm still amazed at how smooth ( and full of info) this site is. No pop ups, no OD'ing on ads & not to mention how much money has been raised for every pumpkin club thru chat room auctions.

The 1644.5 was weighed before the world record pumpkin. It's advertising. I saw the pumpkin myself and it is an incredible accomplishment for a California grower.

kenny for a awfull lot of us your site is where we go on a daily basis.like my favorite nfl coach once said " where would you rather be than right here , right now"?
where else can you reach so many growers with a question or comment then here? need an address? trying to get a message out? this is the place.
i for one understand that maintaining a site can not be cheap.

No disrespect taken Gerry. This website is not a money maker for me but I do try and make it pay for itself. I put the records on the home page because I understand what an incredible accomplishment it is to set a record. In fact, more records may show up there soon as well.
